The Dualist Residence
CLIENT: PRIVATE CLIENT
DETAILS: INTERIOR DESIGN
The Dualist Residence explores how custom design can bring together two distinct ways of living. Designed for a client who splits his time between surfing in Nicaragua and an entrepreneurial life in Brooklyn, the project transforms a standard apartment into a home that bridges calm, nature-driven living with an urban sensibility.
Our discovery phase focused on identifying key collector items that our client either already owned or wanted to acquire for his residence. The interior was shaped through restrained architectural moves and thoughtful lighting details, creating spaces that feel sunlit and open without losing a sense of privacy.
Customization plays a defining role throughout the home. In the kitchen, a commissioned porcelain chandelier anchors a classic tulip table, creating an intimate setting in contrast to the surrounding city. In the primary bedroom, a custom dark blue wallcovering designed with reflective properties introduces depth and movement with passing natural light. These moments are supported by bespoke millwork finished in marble and concrete, adding texture and continuity across the apartment.
Through subtle, considered design gestures, the home becomes a quiet sanctuary within the city, while still carrying the relaxed spirit of the landscapes that draw the client outdoors.
