The High-Desert Flat
CLIENT: PRIVATE CLIENT
DETAILS: INTERIOR DESIGN
The High-Desert Flat is a project we designed for a client with a sweet spot for their time spent in Palm Springs and Joshua Tree. The apartment is a vivid, soulful retreat shaped by desert inspirations. Conceived as a personal oasis, the home draws from the West Coast landscape while supporting the ease and rhythms of modern living.
Rather than treating the space as a standard apartment, we focused on craft and customization throughout. Bespoke finishes and custom architectural millwork ground the design, creating an interior that feels closely tied to the high desert climate, culture, and tradition of making. The vision developed through a collaborative discovery process with the client, shaping a home that reflects her connection to the desert.
Warm woods, tactile neutral textiles, and earthy accents come together to create a layered and cohesive environment that feels relaxed yet expressive. A custom wallcovering, designed specifically for the project, brings movement and energy to the main living space and serves as a defining focal point.
Every square foot is carefully considered. Sculptural millwork, integrated case goods, and ceiling panels establish visual continuity while keeping the plan fluid and uncluttered. Storage and function are built in seamlessly, allowing the character of the space to remain front and center.
The High-Desert Flat reflects our approach to responding to place with intention, resulting in a home that feels local, personal, and thoughtfully crafted.
