The NoMad Suite is a tucked-away residence set within the vibrant energy of New York City’s NoMad neighborhood. Located in a historic building overlooking Sixth Avenue, the design bridges the area’s architectural heritage with a contemporary point of view, exploring concepts of counterpoint to create a home for a young, modern couple.
The project began by re-centering the kitchen and dining area as the heart of the home, designed to support both everyday living and entertaining. Unified cabinetry and integrated appliances are clad in sleek tambour and paired with handmade zellige tiles in deep plum tones, introducing tactile contrast. A custom partition wrapped in gold mirror subtly separates the kitchen and dining room while reflecting light and creating a stronger visual connection between the two spaces.
In the dining room, a saturated palette of terracotta and forest green sets the tone for gathering and hosting. Plush, handwoven rugs and bespoke wallpaper reinforce the richness of the space, bringing warmth, depth, and a sense of ease.
The bedroom takes a more restrained approach, designed as a place to slow down and unwind. Deep, muted green plaster walls are balanced with a brown velvet-upholstered headboard, creating an enveloping and tactile atmosphere. The primary bathroom continues this calm through a simple, monochromatic material palette, offering a quiet retreat from the pace of city life.
The NoMad Suite reflects our approach to contrasting material elements paired with thoughtful restraint, resulting in a home that feels fresh.
